When you choose Olde Town Chimney & Fireplace Sales to take care of your chimney maintenance and fireplace installation needs, you can count on us to perform the best professional job possible. One important reason why you can trust us has to do with our certifications from the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and the National Fireplace Institute (NFI). All of our technicians have undergone the training and education needed to receive these certifications. We would like to tell you more about these organizations and why their certifications are so important to you as a customer.
CSIA Certification
The CSIA was founded in 1983 to be a non-profit organization dedicated to educating chimney professionals and the public about the safety of chimney and venting systems. They have accomplished this goal by increasing public awareness as well as by training and certifying chimney technicians. By providing certifications for both chimney sweeps and dryer exhaust duct technicians, the CSIA is promoting the belief that a warm and safe home can be enjoyed by every family.
Why is the CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep credential such an industry standard?
The CSIA is committed to the elimination of residential chimney fires, carbon monoxide leaks, and other chimney-related hazards that result in the loss of lives and property.
The CSIA devotes itself to educating the public and related industries through both traditional and social media and its relationships with affiliated trades like real estate agents, home inspectors, and oil heating service managers.
The CSIA has become to go-to source for the best and the most accurate chimney safety information. You may have seen CSIA Certified Chimney Sweeps on shows such as Good Morning America and Dateline as well as in print media like The New York Times and Consumer Reports.
NFI Certification
An independent non-profit certification agency which was established in 2002, the NFI tests hearth systems planners and technicians all across the country on important standards like safety and placement, installation guidelines, and venting requirements. These tests are available in three areas: Gas, Woodburning, and Pellet. After passing the exam for the fuel specialty, the technician is then certified by the NFI. A technician can earn all three certifications, and will then have the honor of becoming a Master Hearth Professional, which is the highest level of certification in the fireplace industry. If your technician is NFI-certified, you can be guaranteed he or she has been trained extensively and is committed to the profession. You will know that all safety and performance standards have been followed during the planning and installation of your fireplace or other heating appliance and venting system.
